vestibule or mudroom where children can store their coats, books, lunch boxes and personal effects for immediate access when entering or leaving the home. Since family members normally leave by automobile, the mudroom is often placed near to the garage or carport. As a result, the mudroom is often located between the kitchen and garage area. Thus, these groups of spaces combine to form a zone of the home that includes the kitchen, dining room, pantry, garage and often a mudroom.
