During one memorable client meeting with a particularly deferential couple stands out as an illustration of the dichotomy in conceptual planning for the home that exists between most husbands and wives. In this case, each spouse had individually articulated very different plans for part of the house and the information was totally contradictory. Acknowledging this impasse, the husband very politely turned to me and said, "What do you do in situations like this? Give up, quit, or come back later and start over?" This put me on the spot.
