he desire to create a new home that was truly authentic in style and material prompted the owners of this Louisiana Cottage to carefully select and store salvaged materials for use during construction. Antique pine from old warehouse buildings and sinker cypress from submerged logs were obtained by the owners from a variety of sources. While the traditional lines of the exterior design adhere to historical precedent, the interior floor plan incorporates all of the modern conveniences and spatial requirements for a contemporary family lifestyle. Design of the kitchen includes wide pine floors and beamed ceilings blended with cypress cabinets, doors, trim
and millwork to provide a feeling of natural beauty. Stone countertops and state of the art appliances
provide all of the contemporary conveniences in a traditional kitchen setting. The bell shaped roof is accented by arched dormer windows with copper roofs. Tall double hung windows with operable shutters open directly from the main floor living areas onto the wrap-around porch.
